
Tata Power stated that its step-down subsidiary, Tata Power Solaroof, achieved 1 GWp of installed rooftop solar capacity during the April-December period of the current financial year, as per PTI reports.
The capacity was added within the first nine months of FY26 and includes installations across residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) segments.
Over the 9-month period, Tata Power Solaroof completed more than 1.7 lakh rooftop solar installations. This compares with 38,494 installations in the corresponding period of FY25, translating into a year-on-year increase of 345%.
The December quarter alone accounted for 58,476 installations, up 242% year on year.
Around 1.7 lakh customers were added during April-December across residential, commercial and industrial categories.
With these additions, the total customer base crossed 3 lakh. Including rooftop and ground-mounted systems, cumulative installed solar capacity stood at over 4 GWp at the end of the period.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of rooftop solar installations during the nine months. The state saw 30,857 installations with a combined capacity of 128.13 MWp.
Maharashtra followed with 21,044 installations totalling 126.33 MWp. These two states together accounted for a major share of rooftop installations completed during the period.
The December quarter contributed a sizeable portion of the installations recorded during the year so far. The increase in quarterly installations played a key role in the overall capacity added between April and December.

The addition of 1 GWp rooftop solar capacity between April and December shows higher installation volumes during FY26. The period also saw a rise in customer additions and increased deployment in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, contributing to the overall expansion in installed solar capacity.
