Tata Power Share Price in Focus; TP Solar Records 1 GW Module and 0.9 GW Cell Production in Q2FY27

TP Solar, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), produced 2 GW of solar modules and 1.8 GW of solar cells between April and September 2026.
The company reported the figures as part of its Q2 FY27 manufacturing update through an exchange filing dated October 8, 2026.
Q2 Production Stood at 1.9 GW
For the July-September quarter, TP Solar produced 1 GW of solar modules and 0.9 GW of solar cells. Together, the two categories accounted for 1.9 GW of production during the quarter.
The H1 figures were 2 GW for modules and 1.8 GW for cells. The company said the production reflected capacity ramp-up and improvements in operational efficiency during the period.
Modules Meet DCR and ALMM Requirements
The modules manufactured by TP Solar are compliant with Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms and are listed under the Government of India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
The company manufactures both ALMM-certified modules and DCR modules using Made-in-India cells at its facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
4.3 GW Plant in Tirunelveli
TP Solar operates a 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli. The plant uses Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) and Monocrystalline Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (Mono PERC) technologies.
It also uses AI/ML-based systems and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in its manufacturing operations.
₹4,300 Crore Investment
Tata Power, through TPREL, has invested nearly ₹4,300 crore in the facility. Nearly 80% of the plant’s workforce comprises women.
Tata Power said the investment is aimed at increasing domestic manufacturing across the solar value chain and reducing dependence on external sources for solar cells and modules.

As of October 8, 2026, 12:15 pm, Tata Power share price was trading at ₹340.40, a 1.38% decrease from the previous closing price.
