Tata Power has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for the acquisition of Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific special purpose vehicle, as per an exchange filing dated June 19, 2026.  

The project carries annual transmission charges of ₹521.07 crore and will be executed under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.  

Karnataka Project to Include 250 km Network 

The transmission project will involve the construction of nearly 250 kilometres of power lines across Karnataka. The scope includes 400 kV and 220 kV double-circuit transmission lines along with 220 kV underground cable sections connecting Ryapte, Doddathaggalli, Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura.  

The infrastructure is part of a planned transmission network in the state. 

2 Greenfield Substations Planned 

The project also includes the development of two new substations. One 400/220 kV air-insulated substation will be established at Ryapte in Tumkur district with 5 - 500 MVA transformers, while a 400/220 kV gas-insulated substation with 3 - 500 MVA transformers will be built at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote. 

 Both substations will include 400 kV bus reactors as part of the approved design. 

Agreement Extends for 35 Years 

The Scheduled Commercial Operation Date has been fixed at 30 months from the transfer of the SPV. Following commissioning, transmission services will be provided under an agreement with a tenure of 35 years.  

The filing also states that the order has been awarded by a domestic entity and does not involve any promoter interest or related-party transaction.

Tata Power Share Price Performance  

As of June 19, 2026, 12:08 pm, Tata Power Company Ltd share price was trading at ₹400.70, down 0.55% from the previous closing price. 

Conclusion 

The project includes around 250 km of transmission infrastructure and two new substations in Karnataka. It is scheduled for completion within 30 months and will operate under a 35-year transmission service agreement.
