As per PTI news report, Tata Power is advancing its nuclear energy initiatives through ongoing discussions with 3 states.  

The company is conducting a feasibility study and anticipates releasing a detailed project report within 6 months. Collaborations with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) are integral to these plans. 

Tata Power's Strategic Nuclear Partnerships 

Tata Power is in negotiations with state governments to move forward on its nuclear power projects. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, highlighted that the company is finalising feasibility reports and detailed project reports for its nuclear ambitions.  

These reports are expected shortly, which will pave the way for the required approvals to proceed. 

Tata Power is aligning efforts with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for these projects.  

The focus is on deploying two small modular reactors (SMRs), each with a capacity of 220 megawatts. 

Approval and Development Process 

State-level talks are directed at securing approvals for essential operational activities like water and soil testing.  

While specific project sites remain undisclosed, Tata Power emphasises the importance of these preliminary activities in realising its nuclear project strategy.

Financial Performance Overview 

In a post-earnings report, Tata Power revealed an over 8% increase in consolidated net profit, amounting to ₹1,415.52 crore for the March quarter of FY2025-26.  

These gains were aided by a reduction in expenses compared to the previous year, where the company recorded a net profit of ₹1,306.09 crore. 

Despite this profit increase, the total income during the January to March quarter witnessed a fall to ₹15,455.48 crore from a previous ₹17,446.95 crore in FY25.  

The company managed to lower its expenses to ₹14,876.50 crore, demonstrating efficient cost management. 

Tata Power Share Price Performance  

As of May 13, 2026, at 10:09 AM, Tata Power share price on NSE was trading at ₹401.80 down by 3.97% from the previous closing price.
