Tata Elxsi announced the launch of DevStudio.ai, a generative AI platform for supporting automotive software development. The company disclosed the development in an exchange filing dated March 5, 2026.
The platform has been developed for organisations working on vehicle software, including automotive manufacturers, system suppliers, and semiconductor companies involved in electronic and software systems used in vehicles.
DevStudio.ai has been built to assist different stages of the automotive software development lifecycle. These include activities such as defining system and software requirements, designing architecture, writing code, testing, and validation.
Automotive software development usually involves structured processes and documentation because many vehicle systems are safety-related. The platform has been developed keeping these requirements in mind.
The platform follows the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) framework, which is used in the automotive industry to assess the capacity of software development processes. It supports different stages of the ASPICE V-cycle, including development and testing stages.
According to the company, the system also provides traceability across development stages and can work with engineering tools commonly used by automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers.
DevStudio.ai can be deployed either on cloud infrastructure or within air-gapped on-premise systems. This allows companies to use the platform depending on their internal infrastructure setup and security requirements.
The platform supports multiple large language models and has been structured to assist engineering teams during development tasks across different software workflows.
Tata Elxsi stated that the platform is currently being used in selected development programmes involving global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers located in North America, Japan, and India.
The deployments involve areas such as body electronics, chassis systems, infotainment software, and software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures. Initial use has been associated with shorter development timelines in some programmes.
As of March 6, 2026, 9:16 am, Tata Elxsi share price was trading at ₹4,429.60, a 0.67% increase from the previous closing price.
