Tata Communications share price will remain in focus after it announced strategic investments in new AI-ready subsea cable systems connecting India and Singapore. The expansion is aimed at meeting the rapidly growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-speed enterprise connectivity across Asia.

The company plans to strengthen its international digital network by adding high-capacity, low-latency infrastructure that will support hyperscalers, enterprises, and cloud service providers while reinforcing its position in the global connectivity market.

Tata Communications Project Details

Tata Communications will integrate the MIST Cable System, adding approximately 20 Tbps of capacity on the Mumbai-Singapore route. The project is expected to be Ready for Service (RFS) in Q4 FY2027 and involves an investment of US$63 million.

Additionally, the company is participating as a consortium member in Project CS, a new subsea cable connecting Chennai and Singapore. The project will add around 78 Tbps of capacity and is expected to become operational in Q3 FY2031, with Tata Communications investing US$89 million.

The company said both investments will be funded entirely through internal accruals.

How Will This Help Tata Communications?

The new subsea cable systems will integrate with Tata Communications' extensive terrestrial fibre network across India, which connects more than 100 data centres. The enhanced infrastructure will further strengthen the Tata Global Network (TGN) and support the company's IZO™ connectivity platform.

As enterprises accelerate AI adoption and migrate workloads to the cloud, the demand for reliable, low-latency, and scalable connectivity continues to rise. The upgraded network will provide resilient, self-healing, and on-demand multi-cloud connectivity, enabling businesses to efficiently manage data-intensive applications.
