On July 27, 2026, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited released its unaudited financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, as per the exchange filings.  

The bank reported a total income of ₹1,900.79 crore and net profit of ₹411.51 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2026.

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited's total income increased by 17.5% year-on-year to ₹1,900.79 crore, compared to ₹1,617.47 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.  

Additionally, the total income rose by 6.1% quarter-on-quarter from ₹1,792.14 crore in the March 2026 quarter. 

The bank's net profit for the June 2026 quarter saw a 35% year-on-year increase, reaching ₹411.51 crore, up from ₹304.89 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. 

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit rose by 10.1% from ₹373.65 crore in the March 2026 quarter. 

Annual Performance Overview for FY26 

The bank's performance for the fiscal year 2026 reflects a steady growth trajectory. The total income for the year amounted to ₹6,696.49 crore, while the net profit reached ₹1,337.55 crore. 

Record Top-Line Revenue and Income Expansion 

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB) has registered a strong financial performance for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026. The bank's total interest earned grew to ₹1,662.43 crore, expanding from ₹1,386.24 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.  

Supported by a stable non-interest other income of ₹238.36 crore, the bank's total quarterly revenue reached ₹1,900.79 crore, up 17.52% from ₹1,617.47 crore year-on-year. 

Substantial Surge in Net Quarterly Profit 

The private lender witnessed a major acceleration in its bottom-line earnings driven by robust core operational efficiency. The bank's operating profit before provisions and contingencies surged to ₹611.07 crore from ₹412.26 crore in Q1 FY26.  

Despite an increase in provisions (other than tax) to ₹53.93 crore, the final net profit for the quarter jumped 34.97% year-on-year to reach ₹411.51 crore. 

Strong Sequential Progress in Asset Quality 

TMB demonstrated exceptional portfolio risk management as its asset quality metrics improved significantly over the prior periods. The bank's Gross Non-Performing Asset (NPA) ratio declined to a low of 0.69%, improving from 0.73% in March 2026 and 1.22% in June 2025.  

Concurrently, the Net NPA ratio fell down to 0.17%. This asset strengthening was backed by a highly secure Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) reaching 96.04% inclusive of technical write-offs. 

Retail Banking Vertical Outperforms as Prime Driver 

A deep dive into segment operations highlights the bank's successful retail-focused lending expansion strategy. The Retail Banking segment generated the lion's share of business, bringing in a segment revenue of ₹1,421.87 crore.  

The Treasury vertical followed next by contributing ₹317.94 crore, while Corporate and Wholesale banking recorded ₹160.98 crore. Net segment results for Retail banking wound up at a dominant ₹442.77 crore. 

Healthy Capital Cushion and Return Ratios 

The institution remains safely capitalized to execute its future corporate advancements and asset growth strategies.  

Under Basel III guidelines, the bank's total Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) stands at an ultra-protective 32.33%, primarily consisting of a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 31.30%.  

Reflecting high core capital utilization, the bank's return on assets (ROA) expanded to 2.14%, while non-annualized basic earnings per share (EPS) climbed to ₹25.99.
