Sigma Advanced Systems Share Price Rises 5%; Receives ₹1,013 Crore Export Contract from North American Customer

Sigma Advanced Systems Ltd has secured an export contract worth $104.9 million (around ₹1,013 crore) for the manufacture and supply of 147,000 extended-range 155mm base bleed artillery shell bodies.
The order has been placed by a North American customer and is scheduled to be executed over the next six to 12 months, according to the company's stock exchange filing dated July 27, 2026.
Supply to Include Extended-Range Shell Bodies
The contract covers the production of shell bodies used in extended-range artillery ammunition. These projectiles incorporate a gas-generating unit at the base that reduces drag during flight, allowing the shell to travel farther than conventional ammunition.
The company said the design remains compatible with existing 155mm artillery systems used by defence forces in several countries.
Shift Towards Higher-Value Programmes
This is Sigma's latest order in the artillery ammunition segment after earlier contracts for 155mm fuzes and M107 shell bodies. The company said manufacturing base bleed shells involves additional engineering requirements, including aerodynamics, propulsion-related technologies and systems integration.
Demand Linked to Defence Procurement
The company said the order comes as defence agencies in different regions continue to increase purchases of artillery ammunition and invest in longer-range fire support systems.
Sigma expects the contract to contribute to revenue during the execution period and said it is also likely to support operating margins. The company added that the programme may strengthen its position in export markets.
