Shyam Metalics Share Price in Focus; Commences Commercial Production at Aluminium Foil Facility

Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited has announced that its step-down subsidiary, SMEL Steel Structural Pvt. Ltd., has commenced commercial production at its premium-grade aluminium foil manufacturing facility in Sambalpur, Odisha.
Commercial production began on July 16, 2026, marking a key milestone in the company's expansion into value-added aluminium products.
Aluminium Foil Facility Begins Commercial Production
The newly commissioned facility manufactures premium-grade aluminium foil with a thickness range of 6 to 40 microns.
Located at the company's Sambalpur plant in Odisha, the facility has an installed production capacity of 18,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) and forms part of Shyam Metalics' downstream aluminium business.
Part of ₹800 Crore Expansion Plan
Shyam Metalics is investing approximately ₹800 crore in its Sambalpur aluminium downstream project.
The investment covers both the commissioned aluminium foil facility and an upcoming Aluminium Flat Rolled Products (FRP) manufacturing line, aimed at strengthening the company's value-added product portfolio.
Project Expected to Improve Margins And Revenue
According to the company, the project is expected to reduce India's dependence on imported packaging and industrial foils while diversifying its product portfolio.
Shyam Metalics also expects the aluminium downstream business to improve operating margins by 40% to 50% and expand segment revenue by 2x to 2.5x, while creating employment opportunities and supporting industrial development in Odisha.
FRP Facility Scheduled for September Launch
The company said its Aluminium Flat Rolled Products (FRP) facility, with an installed capacity of 60,000 TPA and a thickness range of 0.3 mm to 4.0 mm, is in the final stage of readiness.
Commercial production at the FRP facility is expected to commence by the end of September 2026, further expanding the company's aluminium downstream capabilities.
Shyam Metalics Share Price Performance
As of 17 July, at 3:22 PM, Shyam Metalics and Energy share price was trading at ₹1,022 per share, reflecting a decline of 1.78% from the previous trading session.
