Rail Vikas Nigam Limited has announced a major project win valued at ₹145.34 crore (₹145,34,66,865.48) for upgrading traction power systems in the Jolarpettai–Salem section.
The contract strengthens RVNL’s role in executing large-scale rail infrastructure, supporting planned capacity expansion across key freight routes.
The newly awarded contract covers the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Scott-connected traction substations, power quality compensating equipment and associated switching posts for the 2x25 kV AT feeding system.
The scope also includes SCADA and Automatic Fault Locator systems, forming a complete power infrastructure upgrade for the JTJ–SA section of Southern Railway. The work must be completed within 540 days.
The order, worth ₹145,34,66,865.48, has been issued by Southern Railway as part of ongoing efforts linked to national freight movement targets.
The contract is classified as a general tender, with RVNL responsible for full execution under the specified engineering and commissioning framework.
