Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has issued a clarification denying recent media reports suggesting that tankers with Russian crude are headed toward its Jamnagar refinery, as per ANI report.

The company stated no such shipments have arrived in the past 3 weeks, and none are expected during January 2026.

Reliance Rejects Russian Oil Delivery Reports

On January 6, 2026, Reliance Industries posted a statement on X declaring a Bloomberg report as "blatantly untrue". The report alleged that 3 vessels laden with Russian oil were en route to the Jamnagar refinery. In its response, Reliance stated that Jamnagar had not received any Russian crude in the last 3 weeks and had no scheduled deliveries for January.

The company said the publication ignored its official denial while releasing the story. Reliance further stated that this has tarnished its reputation unnecessarily.

Shipping Data and Media Claims

Bloomberg’s report based its claims on data from analytics firm Kpler, which tracks ship movements using live signals from vessels.

According to this data, the 3 tankers were signalling the Jamnagar complex as their discharge point, with cargoes totalling nearly 22,00,000 barrels of Urals crude.

The report did mention that a Reliance spokesperson denied the purchase or scheduled delivery of these cargoes. Still, Reliance reiterated that the data being interpreted to suggest deliveries to its refinery was inaccurate and misleading.

Reliance Industries Share Price Performance

As of January 06, 2026, at 9:23 AM, Reliance Industries share price on NSE was trading at ₹1,525.70 down by 3.32% from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

Reliance Industries has firmly denied receiving or planning to receive Russian oil at its Jamnagar refinery for January 2026. While shipping data allegedly indicated potential arrival, the company maintains its stance, discrediting the report. The matter has also sparked political commentary amid global discussions on crude trade and economic pressures.
