
Reliance Industries has drawn investor interest after its subsidiary, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited, acquired a 49% stake in Oval Invincibles Limited.
The transaction, completed with the England and Wales Cricket Board, forms part of a wider partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club.
The move has supported sentiment around the company’s share price during Thursday’s session.
Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has bought a 49% stake in Oval Invincibles Limited for GBP 60.27 million.
The remaining 51% will be held by Surrey County Cricket Club following the shift in ownership from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Oval Invincibles, incorporated in 2019, recorded turnover of GBP 2.33 million (FY25), GBP 2.10 million (FY24) and GBP 2.12 million (FY23). According to RIL, the deal does not fall under related-party transactions, and no regulatory or government approvals were required.
From the 2026 season, both the men’s and women’s Oval Invincibles sides in The Hundred will adopt the name MI London, aligning the franchise with the wider Mumbai Indians network.
The Oval Invincibles have been a dominant force in the competition, securing five titles in five years, including early wins for the women’s team and a three-year streak for the men’s team from 2023 to 2025.
Mumbai Indians, part of RIL’s Indiawin Sports portfolio, now encompasses seven teams across multiple geographies. The organisation points to its experience in player development and global franchise operations as a foundation for this new partnership.
RIL remains India’s largest private-sector enterprise with consolidated revenue of ₹10.71 lakh crore for FY25. The company is featured in global rankings such as the Fortune Global 500 (88th) and Forbes Global 2000 (45th).
Surrey County Cricket Club, based at the Kia Oval, is one of the most successful county clubs in England, known for developing several current international players.
Reliance Industries’ share price stood at ₹1,552.20 as of 04 December 2025, 12:02 PM, marking an increase of ₹13.40 (0.87%) from the previous close of ₹1,538.80.

Reliance’s investment in Oval Invincibles marks another step in broadening its global sports footprint. The partnership with Surrey CCC and the rebranding to MI London underline the company’s ambition to expand its cricket presence internationally.
