Reliance Industries, Adani Enterprises and Others Lead DII Purchases with ₹22,600 Crore Investment in Q1 2026

During the June quarter of 2026, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) significantly increased their stakes in a range of Indian companies. Notable amongst these were Reliance Industries and Adani Enterprises, where the investment exceeded ₹22,600 crore, as per The Economic Times news report. 

ICICI and HDFC Banks See Increased DII Stakes 

ICICI Bank witnessed a rise in DII holdings by 17.50 crore shares, bringing the total to 305 crore shares. This represented ₹22,646 crore in net buying, as the stock saw a 14.04% increase.  

HDFC Bank also saw DIIs increase holdings by 21.94 crore shares to 559 crore shares, with a net buying value of ₹16,987 crore, while the stock appreciated by 9.08%. 

Reliance and Adani Enterprises: Figures and Fluctuations 

DIIs increased their holding in Reliance Industries by 8.76 crore shares, making a total holding of 283 crore shares with ₹11,796 crore in net buying. Despite this, the stock fell by 3.72%.  

In contrast, Adani Enterprises experienced a 3.48 crore shares increase in holdings, reaching 12.15 crore shares with a ₹9,130 crore net buy, bringing about a price increase of 72.62%. 

Other Notable Stocks 

Eternal's DII holding went up by 32.13 crore shares to 379 crore shares, backed by ₹7,979 crore in net buying and a 15.56% stock gain.  

Lenskart Solutions saw a 14,10,000 shares increase bringing up the total to 41 crore shares with ₹7,103 crore, resulting in a 3.13% gain.

Market Performers: Bajaj Finance to Gujarat Energy 

Bajaj Finance's DII holding increased by 7.63 crore shares to 102.12 crore shares. Net buying was ₹7,022 crore, with the stock gaining 25.35%.  

Bharti Airtel saw an increase of 3.72 crore shares to 129.59 crore shares, with net buying of ₹6,882 crore and a 3.90% gain.  

Kotak Mahindra Bank's shares rose by 15.21 crore to 373.91 crore shares with net buying of ₹5,811 crore, resulting in a 10.99% gain.  

Conclusion 

The June quarter of 2026 saw domestic institutional investors buying ₹22,600 crore worth of shares across key stocks. Major investments included Reliance Industries with ₹11,796 crore and Adani Enterprises with ₹9,130 crore. Reliance Industries experienced a 3.72% price decrease, while Adani Enterprises rose by 72.62%.
