Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has appointed V Packirisamy as Director (Commercial) on its Board. The appointment was made through an order issued by the Ministry of Power on June 2, 2026.  

According to the company's exchange filing, he assumed charge on the same day and will continue in the role until his superannuation or until further orders are issued.  

Long Tenure at PFC 

Packirisamy has been part of PFC since January 1997. During his nearly 29-year association with the company, he has worked across different functions linked to lending, project evaluation, and financial assessment within the power sector. The company stated that he has more than 33 years of professional experience.  

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sastra University and an M.Tech in Management Systems from IIT Delhi.  

Work Across Power Sector Financing 

According to the filing, Packirisamy has been involved in credit appraisal, borrower analysis, and the rating of power utilities. He has also worked on matters related to power sector reforms and restructuring exercises.  

His responsibilities included preparing Operational and Financial Action Plans (OFAP) and contributing to consultancy assignments covering financial and commercial aspects of the sector.  

The company noted that he participated in developing lending policies and financial analysis systems used for evaluating borrowers. He was also associated with creating borrower rating mechanisms and supporting compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.  

Internal Systems and Governance 

PFC stated that Packirisamy contributed to strengthening appraisal and risk management processes within the organisation.  

The filing further stated that he has no relationship with any other director on the Board. The company also disclosed that he is not debarred from holding the office of director under any order issued by SEBI or any other authority.
