Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) share price is expected to remain in focus after its wholly owned subsidiary, PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), incorporated 2 special purpose vehicle (SPV) companies for upcoming power transmission projects.

PFCCL Incorporates Two New SPVs

According to the company’s regulatory filing, PFCCL has incorporated 2 wholly owned subsidiaries named Western Ghats PSP Transmission Limited and Hingoli West Power Transmission Limited.

The SPVs have been created for the development of specific intra-state transmission infrastructure projects in Maharashtra.

Projects Linked to Transmission Infrastructure

Western Ghats PSP Transmission Limited has been incorporated for the establishment of a 400 kV GIS Igatpuri/Murbad Switching Station located in Thane district.

Meanwhile, Hingoli West Power Transmission Limited will focus on the establishment of a 400 kV AIS Hingoli West transmission project in Hingoli district.

PFCCL Appointed as Bid Process Coordinator

The filing stated that PFCCL has been appointed as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selecting transmission service providers through tariff-based competitive bidding mechanisms.

The appointment has been made under guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power for Independent Transmission Projects (ITPs).

SPVs To Handle Pre-Development Activities

The newly incorporated SPVs will undertake preparatory and project development activities including land acquisition processes, surveys, report preparation, and forest clearance procedures wherever required.

These entities are created to facilitate project structuring before final transfer to successful bidders selected through the competitive bidding process.

Projects To Be Transferred to Successful Bidders

PFC clarified that the SPVs will eventually be transferred to the successful developers selected through the tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted under Ministry of Power guidelines.

The selected transmission service providers will subsequently develop and execute the projects.

Transmission Sector Remains Key Growth Area

India’s transmission infrastructure segment continues to witness strong investments due to rising renewable energy integration, grid expansion requirements, and increasing electricity demand.

Special purpose vehicle structures are commonly used for facilitating transmission of project development and competitive bidding execution.
