Orient Electric Limited, a part of the CKA Birla Group, announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY27. The company reported strong growth in revenue and profit, driven by healthy demand across its Electrical Consumer Durables (ECD), Lighting, and Switchgear businesses.

Revenue from operations increased 23.5% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹949.8 crore, compared to ₹769.1 crore in the same quarter last year.

Revenue Growth Driven by Multiple Business Segments

The company's growth was broad-based across its product portfolio.

  • Electrical Consumer Durables (ECD) revenue grew 22.7% YoY.
  • Lighting and Switchgear business recorded 25.4% YoY growth.
  • The fans business performed well during the summer season.
  • Revenue from the company's BLDC (energy-efficient) fan portfolio increased 36% YoY, reflecting strong demand for premium and energy-saving products. 

Profit and Margins Improve

Orient Electric reported higher profitability during the quarter despite continued pressure from rising commodity prices.

Management Commentary

Managing Director & CEO Ravindra Singh Negi said the company delivered a healthy performance despite inflationary pressures and a challenging business environment.

He added that growth was led by the Electrical Consumer Durables and Lighting businesses, while investments in the Switchgear and Wires segments are helping diversify the company's portfolio. The company also continued to focus on premium products and innovation, including its Aerosilent fan range and BLDC fans, while pricing actions and cost optimisation supported margin expansion.
