Ola Electric today announced that its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh), has received certification under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989, by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar.
With this approval, Ola Electric will commence deliveries of the Roadster X+, marking it as the first electric motorcycle in India certified with a fully in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack.
The Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) sets a benchmark in electric motorcycling with an industry-leading range of up to 500 km. This is achieved through Ola’s advanced 4680 Bharat Cell technology, which offers high energy density and superior thermal performance.
The extended range addresses the long-standing challenge of range anxiety, making inter-city and long-distance travel feasible for riders beyond major urban centres.
With the Roadster X+ certification, Ola Electric now extends its proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell technology across its two-wheeler portfolio, including electric scooters and motorcycles. The same platform will also power Ola शक्ति, emphasising the company’s vertically integrated approach across cells, battery packs, and vehicles.
The certification followed stringent testing, covering constructional and functional safety, performance, range, gradeability, braking, noise, and electromagnetic compatibility. Additionally, the 9.1 kWh battery pack received ARAI certification under AIS-156 Amendment 4, passing critical tests for thermal runaway, fire safety, water immersion, vibration, and mechanical shock.
Ola Electric spokesperson stated, “The government certification of the Roadster X+ is a major milestone in Ola Electric’s journey towards building end-to-end EV technology in India. With the Roadster X+ (9.1kWh), we are delivering an unmatched range along with superior performance, safety, and reliability, powered entirely by our own cell and battery technology. This is a defining step towards accelerating EV adoption in India’s motorcycle-dominated 2W market.”
On December 30, 2025, Ola Electric share price opened at ₹35.60, almost the same as its previous close of ₹35.43. At 12:16 PM, the share price of Ola Electric was trading at ₹35.80, up by 1.04% on the NSE.
