State-owned manganese miner MOIL Limited has announced the appointment of Vishwanath Suresh as its new Chairman-cum-Managing Director, marking a key leadership transition at the company, as per exchange filings.
Leadership Appointment and Tenure
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Steel, has appointed Vishwanath Suresh to the board of MOIL Limited as Chairman-cum-Managing Director.
He assumed charge on January 7, 2026, and will hold the position until his superannuation on August 31, 2030, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The company confirmed that Suresh is not related to any director or key managerial personnel and is not disqualified under the Companies Act or any regulatory order.
Professional Background and Experience
Vishwanath Suresh is a metallurgical engineer from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and holds an MBA in Marketing along with advanced strategic management certification from IIM Kozhikode.
Prior to joining MOIL, he served as Director (Commercial) at NMDC Limited. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at Steel Authority of India Limited, including Executive Director (Coal Import) and Executive Director (Corporate Materials Management).
His career spans over 3 decades across mining, steel, procurement, sales, and policy functions, with extensive exposure to both domestic and international markets. He has also served on the boards of multiple mineral, steel, rail infrastructure and CSR entities associated with NMDC.
