Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Share Price in Focus; Wins ₹303.17 Crore New Mangalore Port Order

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has secured a ₹303.17 crore maintenance dredging contract from New Mangalore Port Authority. The three-year order is the biggest dredging assignment in the company’s history.
The contract covers the financial years 2026-27 to 2028-29. KMEW received the Letter of Acceptance on October 30, 2026, after emerging as the lowest bidder.
What the New Order Covers
The work involves removing accumulated sediment from the port’s approach channel, lagoon, dock areas, turning circle, selected berth faces and pump-house areas. KMEW will handle a total dredging volume of 15.9 million cubic metres over three years, averaging 5.3 million cubic metres annually.
The annual contract value is around ₹101.07 crore, including taxes. Work for the first year is scheduled to begin on November 15, 2026, with each year's dredging assignment to be completed within 150 days.
The project also includes 1.8 lakh cubic metres of berth-face dredging and 18,000 cubic metres of work around pump houses.
A Larger Assignment for KMEW
The order gives KMEW responsibility for maintenance dredging across the port premises, rather than just a portion of the port area. The company says the assignment represents a move towards larger-volume projects and greater use of its marine equipment.
CEO Sujay Kewalramani said the contract was an important step in the company's effort to build an integrated marine infrastructure business. He also pointed to the opportunity to operate mid-sized Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers.
