Kernex Microsystems Share Price Gains Over 4%; Commissions Kavach System on North Central Railway

Kernex Microsystems (India) Ltd has successfully commissioned its Kavach Version 4.0 system on a 207 km section of the North Central Railway as per the exchange filings. This development is part of the company's ongoing efforts to enhance railway safety and efficiency.
Kavach System Implementation
The Kavach Version 4.0 system, built by Kernex, has been implemented on the Tundla-Panki Dham section of the North Central Railway. This system supports train operations at speeds of up to 130 kmph over the newly commissioned 207 km. With this addition, the total Kavach Version 4.0 coverage in the North Central Railway has increased to 652 km, with 572 km executed by Kernex.
The system has also demonstrated support for train operations at speeds of up to 160 kmph over a 175 km section, aligning with India's vision for high-speed rail modernisation. Successful trial runs were conducted using the Kanpur Shatabdi Express and Sikkim Mahananda Express, both equipped with the Kavach system.
Integration and Testing
The project achieved successful integration with the Hitachi Electronic Interlocking System, showcasing the robustness and interoperability of the Kavach solution. The installation includes Kavach systems at 39 stations, commissioning of 10 WAP-7 locomotives, and installation of over 4,600 RFID tags.

Infrastructure and Validation
The project also involved the construction of 17 communication towers, laying of 48-core optical fibre cable, and establishment of 30 dedicated equipment rooms. Prior to commissioning, the system underwent extensive testing and validation by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), North Central Railway, and Independent Safety Assessment by Italcertifier, Italy.
