As per The Economic Times report, JSW Energy, led by Sajjan Jindal, is advancing its renewable energy strategy by planning to establish two wind turbine blade manufacturing units in Gujarat and Karnataka.

This development reflects broader efforts to build local supply chains, reduce dependency on imports and support wind power capacity growth in India.

Planned Facilities and Local Manufacturing

The new units will produce wind turbine generators (WTGs) for JSW Energy’s own requirements and for its partner, Sany Renewable Energy of China, under a technology licensing agreement signed earlier in 2025.

The Gujarat facility is expected to be smaller, with fewer moulds and lower output targets, while the Karnataka plant could operate with 3 to 4 moulds and produce more blades annually.

These units are part of an industry trend towards strengthening domestic wind supply chains. Recent investments by other manufacturers in blade production and smart manufacturing indicate rising focus on India as a hub for renewable energy components.

Strategic Rationale and Capacity Context

Wind power is a major component of India’s renewable energy mix. States like Gujarat and Karnataka already have significant installed wind capacity, making them attractive locations for manufacturing and logistics.

JSW’s own renewable portfolio continues to expand, alongside projects such as new wind and solar capacity and power purchase agreements that reinforce its long-term energy transition strategy.

JSW Energy Share Price Performance

As of December 17, 2025, at 1:30 PM, JSW Energy share price is trading at ₹447.50 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.21% from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

By developing blade manufacturing capabilities in two key states, JSW Energy aims to support its growing wind power ambitions while contributing to the localisation of renewable energy infrastructure in India. This move is likely to reduce project costs over time and help build deeper industrial capacity in a sector where domestic supply chains are increasingly critical.
