India's consumer goods market is expected to witness strong growth over the next decade, driven by changing consumption patterns, rising incomes, and the rapid expansion of digital commerce. Looking to capitalise on this opportunity, ITC has outlined an ambitious roadmap to strengthen its FMCG business through artificial intelligence, premium product offerings, acquisitions, and omnichannel distribution.

Speaking at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Puri said ITC sees substantial long-term growth potential in India's FMCG sector as consumer preferences continue to evolve.

ITC Expects India's FMCG Market to Expand Significantly

According to news reports, ITC estimates its addressable FMCG market could grow to nearly ₹8 lakh crore by 2035, supported by factors such as premiumisation, increasing digital adoption, the rise of Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers, and the growing influence of quick commerce.

ITC has steadily expanded its consumer goods business over the past few years. Revenue from its FMCG segment increased from about ₹14,720 crore in FY21 to more than ₹24,200 crore in FY26. Today, the company owns over 30 FMCG brands, serving nearly 280 million households in India while exporting products to over 70 countries.

AI and Acquisitions to Shape the Next Phase of Growth

The company is increasingly using artificial intelligence to analyse consumer behaviour and identify emerging demand trends. ITC said its AI-powered insights help create products tailored to different customer segments based on factors such as age, lifestyle, shopping habits, health preferences, and consumption occasions.

At the same time, ITC is expanding its presence through strategic acquisitions in premium and fast-growing categories. The company said these acquired businesses currently generate an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of approximately ₹1,350 crore, strengthening its long-term growth platform.

To support this expansion, ITC is also investing in its omnichannel distribution network, enabling products to reach consumers across traditional retail, e-commerce, and quick commerce platforms.

Health-Focused Innovation Remains a Priority

The company is broadening its portfolio of nutrition-focused products under its Help India Eat Better initiative. Recent launches include protein-enriched offerings across brands such as Yoga Bar, Sunfeast, and Aashirvaad, reflecting growing consumer demand for healthier food choices.
