Sanjiv Puri, the Chairman and Managing Director of ITC, witnessed a 6.8% reduction in his compensation in FY26, bringing his total remuneration to ₹23.91 crore. The decline was attributed mainly to lesser performance-linked bonuses and diminished long-term incentives as per the company’s latest annual report.
For FY26, Sanjiv Puri's compensation package was comprised of a basic and consolidated salary of ₹3.85 crore, perquisites valued at ₹88 lakh, and ₹19.17 crore in performance-linked bonuses and long-term incentives. This marked a decrease from FY25 when he received total remuneration of ₹25.66 crore, indicating a significant overall reduction due to lower variable pay components in FY26.
In FY25, Puri's earnings included a basic salary of ₹3.53 crore alongside perquisites amounting to ₹73 lakh, with performance bonuses and additional incentives at ₹21.39 crore, showing noticeable changes in variable versus fixed salary elements in the following year.
Interestingly, the annual report revealed that Puri's FY26 remuneration was 338 times the median earnings of ITC employees. The median pay for the 10,368 male employees at ITC stood at ₹5,30,593, while for 683 female employees, it was ₹2,25,424. ITC explained the gender disparity owing to the recent hiring of female workers in new roles at its manufacturing units.
