Infosys has announced plans to set up a permanent campus in Visakhapatnam on a 20-acre site, as per PTI reports. The proposed facility is expected to have a seating capacity of 7,000 employees over time, as per a company statement issued on Thursday.
The campus is intended to provide a long-term base for operations in the city.
The company has expanded its workforce in Visakhapatnam over the past 2 years. Employee strength has grown from about 250 to nearly 1,900 during this period.
Around 750 additional seats are expected to be added in the near term. The increase has been phased, in line with operational needs.
Hiring has largely been carried out within the region. The company has recruited over 1,000 fresh graduates and about 500 lateral hires from the local talent pool.
This indicates the availability of trained candidates in the state and the role of local institutions in meeting industry requirements.
The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced policies aimed at supporting the information technology sector and Global Capability Centres. These include programmes focused on skill development and industry-linked training.
Officials have stated that these measures have helped create a steady supply of job-ready candidates and supported company expansions.
State IT Minister Nara Lokesh said the expansion reflects the growth of Visakhapatnam as a technology centre. He referred to coordination between industry, academia and the government as a contributing factor.
He added that the state continues plans to strengthen its position in the digital economy.
As of April 30, 2026, 3:06 pm, Infosys share price was trading at ₹1,181.80, a 1.22% increase from the previous closing price.
The planned campus and ongoing hiring indicate an expansion of operations in Visakhapatnam, supported by local workforce availability and policy measures.
