Stock Performance of ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and HDFC Bank: A Year of Contrasts  

As of October 05, 2026, at 1:45 PM, ICICI Bank has shown notable resilience with a minor 1-year stock decline of -3.21%, trading at ₹1,319.60 after a daily gain of +0.69%.  

Similarly, Yes Bank, trading at ₹20.97, limited its 1-year correction to -4.38%, maintaining steady momentum with a +1.06% increase so far this month.  

In contrast, HDFC Bank experienced a major -27.65% drop over the past year, continuing its downward trajectory to trade at ₹704.25 following a -2.35% dip today.

ICICI Bank maintains strong profitability with a standalone NIM of 4.34%, supported by aggressive loan pricing and optimised deposit costs. Its Net NPA of 0.41% reflects excellent asset quality, providing stability amid sector challenges.   

Yes Bank: The Turnaround Success  

Yes Bank has significantly improved its asset quality with a Net NPA of 0.30%, achieved through debt transfers and disciplined provisioning. Its NIM has expanded to 2.50%, as the market increasingly recognises its transition from a recovery phase into a stable, profitable business model.   

HDFC Bank: The Mega-Merger Drag  

HDFC Bank's historic merger with HDFC Ltd continues to impact its operating efficiency. Core standalone NIM stands compressed at 3.26% due to the integration of a massive, low-yield mortgage book and elevated funding costs.  

Meanwhile, its Net NPA ratio is reported at 0.41%, matching peers but maintaining baseline valuation pressure on its stock price.  

ICICI Bank GST Notice 

On September 30, 2026, ICICI Bank received a show cause notice from the Additional Commissioner, CGST and C. Ex, Division-IV, Mumbai East Commissionerate under the Goods and Services Tax Act. 

The regulatory notice raised a substantial tax demand of ₹229.14 crore along with applicable interest and penalties. The tax issue relates directly to banking services provided to specific minimum balance accounts. 

Board Meeting Notification of Yes Bank 

Yes Bank Limited has formally notified the stock exchanges that its next Board of Directors meeting will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to review financial performance. 

The directors will meet in Mumbai to consider and approve the un-audited standalone and consolidated financial results of the bank for the quarter and half-year ending September 30, 2026. 

HDFC Bank Executive Transitions 

HDFC Bank Limited announced that the Reserve Bank of India approved the appointment of Mr. Anup Bagchi as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer under Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act. 

Mr. Bagchi will take charge for a three-year term starting October 27, 2026. He replaces Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan, who completes his executive tenure on October 26, 2026. 

HDFC Bank Advance Growth 

HDFC Bank reported its average advances under management reached ₹3,187.2 crore billion for the quarter ending September 2026. This performance reflects a steady 14.0% year-on-year growth trajectory. 

Period-end gross advances aggregated to approximately ₹3,219.5 crore billion as of September 30, 2026. This marks a clear 16.3% expansion over the corresponding period from the previous fiscal year. 

HDFC Bank Deposit Mobilisation 

The bank's average deposits stood at ₹3,166.5 crore billion during the September 2026 quarter. This volume represents a 16.8% increase over the previous year's average deposit pool. 

Period-end savings and term deposits combined to aggregate approximately ₹3,327.5 crore billion. This total was calculated on September 30, 2026, marking an 18.8% growth over the previous year. 

Foreign Currency Swap Performance of HDFC Bank 

Pursuant to the central bank's special swap facility, HDFC Bank mobilised overseas foreign currency deposits totaling USD equivalent 11.5 billion. This amount translates precisely to an Indian Rupee value of ₹110.34 crore billion. 

The bank extended overseas loan facilities of USD 5.7 billion against these deposits. Additionally, senior unsecured bonds worth USD 2.5 billion were issued during the June to August 2026 timeline.
