Hyundai Motor India Aims for 1 Million Connected Vehicles in India by 2027, Driven by Software Boom

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is targeting 1 million cumulative connected car sales by 2027, as per an Economic Times news report. The company currently has more than 800,000 connected cars on Indian roads, fitted with its Bluelink technology.
Connected Car Penetration
Hyundai introduced Bluelink in India in 2019 with the Venue. The share of connected vehicles in its portfolio has increased from 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026, according to the company.
Connected features are available across models including the Venue, Creta and i20. Hyundai is also targeting more than 2 million cumulative connected car sales by 2030.
Bluelink Platform
Bluelink has more than 70 features covering vehicle safety, security and convenience. These include remote vehicle monitoring, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, trip history and remote commands.
Other features include Digital Key, Digital Passport, Remote Immobiliser, Home-to-Car Connectivity and Hyundai Pay-enabled in-car payments. The system also supports more than 450 AI-powered voice commands across five languages.
Software Updates
Hyundai has added over-the-air (OTA) technology to its connected vehicle systems. The company introduced OTA map updates with the i20 in 2020, followed by next-generation Audio Video Navigation Telematics technology in 2022.
In 2025, Hyundai introduced its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), which included controller OTA update capability. These systems allow some vehicle software and map updates to be carried out remotely.
Safety Services
Hyundai said Bluelink has assisted more than 500,000 motorists through SOS and roadside assistance. The system has also supported around 15,000 crash-notification interventions.
The company noted that the connected technology has also been used by law-enforcement agencies for vehicle tracing and recovery.
Electric SUV
HMIL MD and CEO Tarun Garg said the company’s upcoming mass-market electric SUV will have next-generation connected car technology as standard across all variants.
HMIL is targeting 1 million cumulative connected car sales by 2027, compared with more than 800,000 connected cars currently on Indian roads. The company has set a further target of crossing 2 million sales by 2030.
