Hindustan Zinc Share Price in Focus; Reports 142% Rise in Q2FY27 Net Profit

Hindustan Zinc Limited reported a net profit of ₹6,412 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹2,649 crore in the same quarter last year, as per filings dated October 19, 2026.
Revenue from operations increased to ₹15,093 crore from ₹8,549 crore, according to the company’s results for the quarter ended 30 September 2026.
EBITDA stood at ₹9,285 crore, up from ₹4,467 crore in Q2FY26. The EBITDA margin increased to 62% from 52%. Earnings per share also rose, reaching ₹15.2 against ₹6.3 in the year-ago quarter.
Zinc and Silver Sales
Zinc sales contributed ₹8,224 crore during the quarter, up 54% year on year. Silver sales rose to ₹4,111 crore from ₹1,706 crore, while lead sales increased to ₹1,130 crore from ₹840 crore. Revenue from other segments stood at ₹1,628 crore.
The company attributed the increase in revenue to higher metal prices, increased production, better realisation from by-products, and a stronger dollar.
Production and Costs
Hindustan Zinc produced 271 kilotonnes (KT) of mined metal during the quarter, an increase of 5% from the previous year. Refined metal production rose 7% to 264 KT. Silver production increased 20% to 173 tonnes.
The cost of zinc production, excluding royalty, fell to US$703 per tonne from US$994 per tonne in Q2FY26. Better mined grades, higher production, increased renewable power consumption, and improved by-product realisations contributed to the decline.
Higher input commodity prices partly offset these reductions.
April-September Performance
For the first half of FY27, revenue increased 77% year on year to ₹28,840 crore. Net profit rose 143% to ₹11,881 crore from ₹4,883 crore, while EBITDA increased 108% to ₹17,359 crore.
Mined metal production reached 539 KT, up 3%, and refined metal production rose 6% to 524 KT. Silver output increased 10% to 321 tonnes.

As of 30 September 2026, the company reported gross investments and cash of ₹17,439 crore, against outstanding borrowings of ₹6,171 crore. Free cash flow before growth capital expenditure stood at ₹6,389 crore during the quarter.
