Hindustan Copper Share Price in Focus; Plans ₹7,000 Crore Investment Over Next 5 to 6 Years

Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL), the state-owned copper producer, plans to invest more than ₹7,000 crore over the next five to six years, according to exchange filings.
The investment will be used for exploration, reopening closed mines and its copper and critical minerals operations.
Hindustan Copper’s Resources
The company has added 135.52 million tonnes of copper ore reserves and resources in the past three years. Its combined resources and reserves now stand at 767.37 million tonnes.
HCL is also pursuing new copper deposits in India and overseas. Reopening closed mines is part of the company's plans to increase copper production within the country.
Hindustan Copper and CODELCO Agreement
Hindustan Copper has entered into a collaboration with CODELCO, Chile's state-owned copper company. The two sides will work on technical cooperation in mining, beneficiation and exploration, as well as capacity building and knowledge sharing.
In India, HCL has signed Memoranda of Understanding with RITES, Indian Oil Corporation, Coal India, Oil India and GAIL.
Mining Presence
The company noted that these agreements are related to expanding mining activities and strengthening India's mineral security.
HCL holds all operating mining leases for copper ore in India and has access to about 45% of the country's copper ore reserves and resources.
Demand for Copper
Copper demand is linked to infrastructure development, renewable energy, electric mobility and other clean-energy applications.
Hindustan Copper is India's sole vertically integrated producer of refined copper. Its operations cover mining, ore beneficiation, smelting, refining and extrusion of copper rods.
