
Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) has been awarded a major infrastructure contract valued at approximately ₹1,662 crore by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
This contract is for the construction of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Phase IV, a project aimed at improving east-west connectivity in Mumbai.
The contract has been awarded to the Aakshya-HCC Joint Venture, in which HCC holds a 49% stake. The project involves the construction of a second-level flyover and free-left movements at grade in Phase I.
The flyover will span 1,330 metres, while the at-grade road will extend to 3,200 metres, and the free-left at-grade length will be 2,620 metres.
Phase II of the project includes the construction of a cloverleaf interchange and free-left bypasses at grade.
The total cloverleaf loop and interchange will cover 2,400 metres, with free-left bypasses extending to 3,600 metres. Additionally, the project will feature an obligatory cable-stayed span of 180 metres and ramps totalling 270 metres in length.
The GMLR corridor is a crucial development by BMC to enhance the transportation network in Mumbai.
By improving east-west connectivity, the project is expected to ease traffic congestion and facilitate smoother transit across the city.
