HDFC Bank spent ₹1,316.18 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during FY26, compared with just over ₹1,068 crore in the previous financial year, as per a PTI report.

The bank disclosed the details in its latest CSR update, stating that the spending was carried out through Parivartan, its umbrella programme for social development.

With the latest allocation, HDFC Bank's total spending under Parivartan has reached around ₹7,492 crore since the programme was introduced. The bank noted that its CSR work is now spread across all 28 states and eight Union Territories.

Village Coverage Expanded During the Year

The bank's Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) was extended to more than 11,000 villages, up from over 10,430 villages a year earlier. The programme covers sectors such as agriculture, water conservation, sanitation, healthcare, education, and village infrastructure.

According to the bank, work in these villages is carried out through a combination of projects instead of individual schemes. The objective is to address local requirements based on the needs of each community.

More Work in Border Regions

During FY26, HDFC Bank expanded its CSR presence in border areas. The number of villages covered increased to 498, compared with 298 in the previous year.

The work in these locations includes electrification, support for farming, school facilities, healthcare infrastructure and livelihood-related projects.

The expansion has been undertaken in line with the government's Border Area Development Programme and Vibrant Villages Programme.

Programme Reaches Over 10.77 Crore People

The bank also noted that Parivartan has reached more than 10.77 crore people through its various programmes. Along with rural development, the initiative also covers financial literacy, skill development, environmental projects, and community infrastructure.

HDFC Bank Deputy Managing Director Kaizad Bharucha said the bank has continued to increase the reach of its rural development programme and expand its work in border villages during the year.
