Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) witnessed a share price increase of 4% following the Defence Acquisition Council's (DAC) approval of procurement proposals valued at ₹1.1 lakh crore, including Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs), as per The Moneycontrol news report.  

The approval has positively impacted HAL shares, showing a growth in market traction. 

Details of the DAC Approval 

On Monday, September 7, 2026, The DAC, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, recently approved procurement proposals worth ₹1.1 lakh crore. This includes the acquisition of 138 Advanced Light Helicopters, as per the news report.  

The move is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of various branches of the Indian armed forces. The procurement proposals prioritise sourcing from Indian industry, potentially benefiting local defence manufacturers significantly. 

Impact on HAL Shares 

In response to the DAC approval, HAL shares rose to ₹5,049.5, marking a 4% increase from the previous close of ₹4,855.2. Year-to-date, HAL has experienced a stock gain of approximately 15%, contrasting with a 9% decline in the Nifty 50 index. HAL's market capitalisation now exceeds ₹3.37 lakh crore. 

Details of Approved Helicopters 

The procurement includes Advanced Light Helicopters intended for use by the Indian Army for complex missions in diverse operational conditions. The plan is to enhance operational readiness across different environments, offering a strategic boost to the armed forces. 

Domestic Manufacturing Focus 

Around 98% of the proposed expenditure on the ₹1.1 lakh crore defence procurement is designated for the Indian industry. This focus aims to expand the market opportunities for domestic defence companies in India and improve visibility on future order inflows.
