The Indian government plans to launch new Offer for Sale (OFS) transactions in four major public sector undertakings during the fiscal year 2027, as per The Moneycontrol report.  

The entities include Hindustan ZincHindustan CopperMazagon Dock Shipbuilders, and IRCTC, with the first two singled out as top priorities in the OFS pipeline. 

Key Offer for Sale Highlights 

As per the report, the planned OFS will see the government offloading around 1.5% of its stake in Hindustan Zinc. Meanwhile, stakes in Hindustan Copper, Mazagon Dock, and IRCTC are projected at around 5% each.  

Banker Engagements and Transaction Sequencing 

As per the report, recent months have seen the appointment of several bankers focused on Hindustan Zinc, Hindustan Copper, Mazagon Dock, and IRCTC, suggesting a heightened pace in the government’s divestiture strategy. Despite these preparations, the sequence and timing of these offers remain undisclosed to banking participants until shortly prior to launch.

Ongoing Disinvestment Activities 

The current fiscal has been robust for disinvestment actions, with OFS and stake sales already completed in entities like Coal IndiaNHPC, and the Indian Railway Finance Corporation. The government has accrued ₹61,638.61 crore for 2026-27, aided by both disinvestment and asset monetisation. 

Conclusion 

The government's intent to launch OFS in Hindustan Zinc, Hindustan Copper, Mazagon Dock, and IRCTC underscores an ongoing push in public sector divestment, with stake sales ranging from 1.5% to 5%. With the Finance Ministry involved, significant financial mobilisation is anticipated for FY27.
