Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has approved a capital budgetary outlay of ₹2,896 crore for construction of a Greenfield shipyard at Raichak. The decision was taken at the company’s 423rd Board meeting on September 21, 2026.
The investment is part of GRSE’s capacity expansion plans. The company had earlier disclosed on August 24, 2026, that it was planning three new facilities, including the one at Raichak.
Shipbuilding Capacity to Increase
According to the company’s stock exchange filing, the Raichak shipyard will be used to increase GRSE’s shipbuilding capacity for both naval and commercial segments. The filing does not give a separate cost breakup for the facility.
GRSE has also not disclosed a construction timeline or completion date for the shipyard in the latest announcement. The ₹2,896 crore amount is the capital budgetary outlay approved by the Board for the project.
