Exide Industries Share Price in Focus; Invests ₹199.99 Crore in Wholly Owned Subsidiary EESL

Exide Industries Limited has invested ₹199.99 crore in Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), its wholly owned subsidiary, as per an exchange filing dated August 18, 2026.
The investment was made on 18 August 2026 through a rights issue of equity shares. Exide Industries’ holding in EESL remains at 100%.
Equity Shares Issued on Rights Basis
EESL allotted 5,71,42,857 equity shares to Exide Industries. The shares carry a face value of ₹10 each and were issued at a premium of ₹25 per share.
This investment takes Exide Industries’ total investment in EESL to ₹5,102.23 crore. Exide Energy Private Limited was the erstwhile merged subsidiary.
Funding for Bengaluru Facility
EESL is setting up a greenfield plant in Bengaluru. The facility is to manufacture and sell lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs. The latest equity investment is to fund the same project.
Exide Industries’ board had approved an additional investment of up to ₹1,400 crore in EESL on 30 January 2026. The proposed funds were to be invested in one or more tranches for a greenfield multi-gigawatt lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility.
EESL Business and Financials
EESL was incorporated on 24 March 2022. Its business covers manufacturing and selling battery cells, modules, and packs for electric vehicles and stationary applications.
As of 31 March 2026, EESL had paid-up equity share capital of ₹1,589.93 crore and net worth of ₹3,991.06 crore. Its turnover for FY2025-26 was ₹157.56 crore, compared with ₹116.89 crore in FY2024-25 and ₹239.14 crore in FY2023-24.
FY2025-26 Loss
EESL reported a loss after tax of ₹248.16 crore for the year ended 31 March 2026. The investment is part of its funding for EESL’s operations.

Exide Industries Share Price Performance
As of 19 August 2026, 10:21 am, Exide Industries share price was trading at ₹468.35, a 0.67% increase from the previous closing price.
Conclusion
The ₹199.99 crore rights issue takes Exide Industries’ investment in EESL to ₹5,102.23 crore. EESL is using the funds for its Bengaluru lithium-ion battery facility and related funding needs.
