Eternal Share Price in Focus; Gets GST Order for FY20 from West Bengal Tax Authority

Eternal Limited has received a GST demand order for FY20 from West Bengal tax authorities and said it will file an appeal against the order.

Eternal Limited has received an adjudication order from the Additional Commissioner of State Tax (Appeals), West Bengal, for the period April 2019 to March 2020.  

The order confirms a GST demand of ₹1.92 crore (₹1,92,43,792), interest of ₹1.58 crore (₹1,58,12,070), and a penalty of ₹19.24 lakh (₹19,24,380). The demand has been raised under Section 73 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the corresponding West Bengal GST Act. 

Basis of the Demand 

According to the disclosure, the order relates to the alleged short payment of output tax, along with applicable interest and penalty. The order was issued on January 6, 2026, and was received by the company the same day.  

Details of the action were shared with stock exchanges in line with Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations. 

Company Response and Next Steps 

Eternal stated that it believes it has a strong case on merits. The company said it plans to file an appeal against the order before the appropriate authority.  

It added that the assessment is supported by opinions obtained from external legal and tax advisors. No timeline for the appeal process was provided in the disclosure. 

Eternal Share Price Performance  

As of January 07, 2026,10:24 am, Eternal share price was trading at ₹280.70, a 0.59% increase from the previous closing price.
