Emami Share Price in Focus; Approves ₹282 Crore Buyback at ₹475 Per Share

Emami Limited has approved a buyback of its equity shares for an amount of up to ₹28,200 lakh, or ₹282 crore, as per an exchange filing. The decision was taken by the company’s board on September 17, 2026. The buyback price has been capped at ₹475 per share.
The amount of ₹282 crore does not include expenses related to the transaction. These include brokerage, taxes, advisory and intermediary fees, publication and printing costs, stamp duty, and other incidental expenses.
Number of Shares
At the maximum price of ₹475, Emami could buy back 59,36,842 equity shares. This represents around 1.36% of the company’s paid-up equity share capital as of the board meeting date and was below 25% of the existing paid-up capital as of March 31, 2026.
If shares are bought at a price below ₹475, the number of shares purchased could be higher. However, the total expenditure will remain within the approved maximum buyback size of ₹282 crore.
Minimum Amount for Buyback
Emami will use at least 75% of the maximum amount allocated for the buyback. This sets the minimum buyback size at ₹21,150 lakh, or ₹211.50 crore. At ₹475 per share, the company would purchase an indicative minimum of 44,52,632 shares.
The company has also stated that ₹11,280 lakh, equal to 40% of the maximum buyback size, will be used within the first half from the opening of the offer.
Shareholding Details
As of September 17, promoters and the promoter group held 23.94 crore shares, representing 54.84% of the equity capital. Public shareholders held 19.71 crore shares, or 45.16%.
If the maximum 59.36 lakh shares are bought back at ₹475, total equity shares would reduce from 43.65 crore to 43.06 crore. Promoter holding would be 55.60%, while public shareholding would be 44.40%.
