Dr Reddy's Laboratories Rolls Out Generic Sugammadex Injection in the US

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has launched Sugammadex Injection in the United States, becoming the first company to introduce a generic version of Bridion®, as per The Economic Times news report. 

The product is available in 200 mg/2 mL and 500 mg/5 mL single-dose vials, each with a concentration of 100 mg/mL. The launch adds another injectable medicine to the company’s hospital portfolio in the US. 

Medicine Used to Reverse Muscle Relaxants 

The injection is indicated for reversing neuromuscular blockade caused by rocuronium bromide and vecuronium bromide during surgical procedures. It is approved for use in adults and children aged two years and above.  

The medicine is administered after surgery to reverse the effects of these muscle relaxants once the procedure has been completed. 

Product Manufactured Within Company Network 

According to the company, Sugammadex Injection is manufactured through Dr. Reddy’s integrated global supply network. The launch took place on the first day generic versions became available in the US market.  

The medicine is a generic equivalent of Bridion®, which is marketed by Merck Sharp & Dohme B.V. and remains a registered trademark of the company. 

Reference Medicine Had $1.6 Billion US Sales 

As per the report, data from IQVIA National Sales Perspectives shows that Bridion® recorded approximately US$1.6 billion in sales in the United States during the 12-month period ended May 2026.  

The entry of a generic alternative follows the opening of the market for competing manufacturers. Generic medicines are approved after meeting regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and therapeutic equivalence to the reference product.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Share Price Performance  

As of August 4, 2026, 12:13 pm, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd share price was trading at ₹1,161.20, a 1.59% decrease from the previous closing price.
