Coal India has proposed an IPO for its wholly owned subsidiary, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). The offer will involve the sale of existing shares held by Coal India.

MCL IPO to Include 66.18 Crore Shares

The proposed IPO will comprise an Offer for Sale of up to 661,836,300 equity shares, equivalent to around 66.18 crore shares. The shares have a face value of ₹2 each.

The entire offer represents shares held by Coal India. This means the proposed transaction will involve the parent company offering part of its existing holding in MCL rather than the issue of new shares by the subsidiary.

Coal India’s MCL Stake in Focus

The proposed OFS makes Coal India’s holding in MCL a central part of the IPO development. MCL is identified as a wholly owned subsidiary of Coal India.

The filing does not provide an IPO price, valuation, issue proceeds or a timeline for the proposed offer. Therefore, these aspects remain outside the details available in the company disclosure.
