Total deposits rose 11% to 74.78 lakh crore from 74.28 lakh crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The bank has maintained its business growth guidance of 14-15% for FY27.

Profit Higher, Operating Earnings Lower

Net profit for the June quarter stood at 21,324 crore, compared with 21, 169 crore in the same period last year, reflecting a 13% increase. Sequentially, profit recovered from 2724 crore reported in the March quarter.

Total income increased to 710,678 crore from 710,360 crore in Q1 FY26. Interest earned during the quarter rose to 79,691 crore against 78,589 crore a year earlier. Operating profit, however, declined to 72,186 crore from 72,304 crore, despite the increase in income.

Improvement in Asset Quality

The lender reported a further reduction in stressed assets during the quarter. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) declined to 2.60% of gross advances as of June 30, 2026, from 3.13% a year earlier, an improvement of 53 basis points. Net NPA remained unchanged at 0.49%.

Lower provisions also reflected the improvement in the loan book. Provisions for bad loans fell to 7346 crore during the quarter from 7468 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Capital Position Strengthens

The bank's capital adequacy ratio improved to 18.28% at the end of the June quarter from 17.66% a year ago. The higher capital buffer comes alongside growth in deposits and business, while providing additional capacity to support lending operations.
