Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Ltd, in collaboration with Orange Business Services, has successfully completed and received formal sign-off for India’s 1st enterprise-grade 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) proof-of-concept with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.
The deployment was carried out at BSNL’s Mindi Exchange in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The project involved the implementation of a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG)-based subscriber management architecture, moving beyond traditional tunnel-centric approaches such as GRE.
The design enables carrier-grade subscriber authentication, dynamic IP address allocation, Quality of Service (QoS) enforcement, and seamless integration with BSNL’s billing and AAA systems.
Unlike GRE-based tunnelling, which primarily encapsulates traffic, the BNG-led architecture offers native broadband session control and policy enforcement, supporting scalability, operational reliability and readiness for commercial rollout.
The proof-of-concept validated the full 5G stack, including access network, core, radio and customer premises equipment, under real-world field conditions. All planned test cases covering throughput, latency, jitter, session setup and connection stability were executed successfully and met the defined key performance indicators.
The deployment also demonstrated seamless interoperability between QuadGen RAN, HPE Core and BSNL’s transport and subscriber management systems, following which BSNL’s technical teams formally signed off on the POC.
On the completion of the project, Group Chairman Sri Tejesh Kodali said, “Our successful partnership with BSNL and Orange Business Services marks a significant milestone in our journey to deliver next-generation connectivity solutions. The completion of this 5G FWA POC not only validates our technical capabilities but also sets the stage for commercial deployment and expansion across India. We remain committed to driving innovation and digital transformation for our customers and partners.”
With the sign-off in place, Blue Cloud Softech is now positioned to move towards commercial deployment, leveraging learnings from the POC to deliver scalable, enterprise-grade 5G broadband solutions.
