Birla Corporation Q1FY27 Results: Net Profit Falls 3.2%, Revenue Rises 7.8%

Birla Corporation reported a 3.2% decline in Q1FY27 consolidated net profit to ₹115.73 crore, while revenue from operations increased 7.8% year-on-year.

Birla Corporation Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of ₹115.73 crore for the first quarter of fiscal 2026-27, reflecting a 3.2% year-on-year decline from ₹119.57 crore, though revenue from operations grew 7.8% to ₹2,646.45 crore.The company's Board approved the unaudited financial results on July 25, 2026. 

Cement and Jute Revenue Improve 

The cement segment generated revenue of ₹2,515.17 crore, compared with ₹2,341.86 crore in the year-ago quarter. 

Revenue from the jute business also increased to ₹131.25 crore from ₹112.47 crore, contributing to the overall growth in consolidated revenue. 

Higher Costs Reduce Margins 

Total income increased 7.4% to ₹2,669.41 crore, while total expenses rose 8.9% to ₹2,513.71 crore. 

Operating margin narrowed to 13.12% from 14.29% as input costs increased. Power and fuel expenses rose to ₹479.65 crore from ₹394.58 crore, while finance costs remained largely unchanged at ₹67.22 crore. 

Profitability Under Pressure 

Profit before tax declined 12.2% to ₹155.70 crore from ₹177.38 crore. 

On a standalone basis, net profit fell to ₹40.75 crore from ₹77.87 crore, while revenue from operations rose to ₹1,452.22 crore from ₹1,428.89 crore. Standalone operating margin contracted to 7.87% from 11.94% due to higher material and power costs. 

Consolidated basic EPS stood at ₹15.03, compared with ₹15.53 in the corresponding quarter last year, while standalone EPS declined to ₹5.29 from ₹10.11.

Birla Corporation Share Price Performance  

As of 24 July 2026, Birla Corporation Ltd share price closed at ₹979 per share, reflecting a surge of 0.51% from the previous trading session. 

Conclusion 

Birla Corporation reported higher revenue during Q1FY27, supported by growth in its cement and jute businesses. However, higher input, power and fuel costs resulted in lower operating margins and a decline in consolidated and standalone profitability during the quarter.
