BHEL Signs Agreement with Hystar AS, Norway for PEM Electrolyser Systems for Green Hydrogen Projects

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Norway-based Hystar AS to enable phased indigenisation and local manufacturing of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser systems for green hydrogen projects in India, as per the exchange filings.
BHEL Expands Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Capabilities
The collaboration will enable BHEL to progressively localise the manufacturing of PEM electrolyser systems in India. The partnership is also expected to strengthen BHEL's capabilities in executing green hydrogen projects across the country.
Partnership Expands Electrolyser Technology Portfolio
BHEL had earlier entered into a strategic tie-up with thyssenkrupp nucera India for alkaline electrolyser systems.
With the latest collaboration with Hystar for PEM technology, BHEL said it is among the few Indian companies capable of offering both alkaline and PEM electrolyser solutions.
Focus on Local Manufacturing
The agreement is aimed at supporting phased indigenisation, allowing BHEL to build domestic manufacturing capabilities for PEM electrolysers. This could strengthen the company's role in India's developing green hydrogen ecosystem.
