Bharti Airtel has launched three prepaid recharge plans priced at ₹185, ₹203 and ₹206, offering unlimited calling and SMS without mobile data, as per news reports.

The launch comes ahead of October 21, 2026, when telecom operators must comply with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) order to provide voice-only plans.

Airtel is the first operator to introduce the new recharges. The directive also covers Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and BSNL.

Airtel’s New Plan Details

The ₹185 plan has a validity of 28 days, while the ₹203 plan is valid for 30 days. The ₹206 plan covers one calendar month.

All three plans include unlimited local, national and roaming calls, 300 SMS, and Hello Tunes. They do not include mobile data and are available through Airtel’s app and website.

TRAI’s September 2026 Directive

TRAI notified the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, on September 22, 2026. It gave operators 30 days to introduce separate tariff vouchers for voice calls and SMS.

The rules require these vouchers to have validity periods corresponding to data-inclusive plans with validity of 30 days or less. Operators must also list them under a dedicated tab on their recharge platforms.

Why Voice-Only Plans Are Required?

The regulator’s order followed concerns that subscribers who mainly use calls and text messages have limited options without bundled data. Many prepaid recharges include 4G or 5G data, even for users who do not need mobile internet.

Feature phone users and subscribers who continue using older handsets are among those who may prefer plans without data benefits. The separate vouchers allow them to pay for calling and messaging without purchasing a data allowance.

Bharti Airtel Share Price Performance

As of October 19, 2026, 10:33 am, Bharti Airtel share price was trading at ₹1,898.00, down 0.37% from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

Airtel has introduced three voice-only recharges before the October 21 deadline. Jio, Vi and BSNL are also required to offer plans that meet TRAI’s conditions.
