Bharti Airtel Share Price in Focus; Completes Airtel Africa Stake Acquisition

Bharti Airtel has completed the acquisition of a 16.3% stake in Airtel Africa from Indian Continent Investment Limited (ICIL), strengthening its ownership in the Africa-focused telecom operator.
The transaction was executed through a preferential share allotment and marks the completion of a previously announced composite deal.
Airtel Raises Stake in Airtel Africa
The company acquired 595.2 million shares of Airtel Africa, representing approximately 16.3% of the subsidiary's equity capital.
Following the completion of the transaction on June 22, 2026, Bharti Airtel's effective stake in Airtel Africa has increased to around 79%.
Share-Swap Transaction Completed
The acquisition was undertaken through a preferential allotment of Bharti Airtel equity shares to ICIL.
As part of the arrangement, the company's Special Committee of Directors approved the allotment of 146.76 million fully paid-up equity shares with a face value of ₹5 each.
ICIL Becomes Minority Shareholder
Following the allotment, ICIL now holds approximately 3.25% of Bharti Airtel's post-issue equity share capital.
The transaction enables Airtel to consolidate its ownership in Airtel Africa while providing ICIL with a direct equity stake in the parent company.
Paid-Up Share Capital Increases
As a result of the preferential issue, Bharti Airtel's paid-up equity share capital has increased.
The company stated that its paid-up capital now stands at over ₹3,120 crore, comprising more than 624 crore fully paid-up equity shares along with existing partly paid-up shares.

Bharti Airtel Share Price Performance
As of 23 June 2026, at 11:18 AM, Bharti Airtel share price was trading at ₹1,926.30 per share, reflecting a surge of 0.51% from the previous trading session.
