Bharat Forge Limited informed the exchanges that its wholly owned subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE).
The agreement aims to enhance India’s shipbuilding and marine engineering capabilities through collaborative development of key ship systems.
The MoU was signed on March 5, 2026, with a focus on strengthening domestic capabilities in areas such as propulsion systems, steering gear, and integrated platform management systems for naval and commercial vessels.
The collaboration is expected to combine the technological strengths of both companies to develop indigenous solutions for ship propulsion systems. These systems are critical components used in both defence and commercial ships.
Through this partnership, the companies aim to support India’s growing shipbuilding sector by promoting locally developed technologies. The initiative aligns with the broader national objective of reducing reliance on imported defence technologies while building long-term operational capabilities for the maritime sector.
The collaboration may also contribute to the development of advanced engineering solutions that can be used in future naval platforms and commercial maritime vessels.
Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited serves as the defence and aerospace arm of Bharat Forge. The company was established to expand the group’s footprint in advanced defence technologies, including artillery systems, armoured platforms, and aerospace solutions.
By entering into this partnership with GRSE, KSSL is expanding its presence in the marine engineering segment, particularly in propulsion and ship system technologies.
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. is one of India’s leading defence shipyards operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence. The company specialises in the design and construction of advanced warships for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
GRSE has delivered several sophisticated naval platforms over the years and plays an important role in strengthening India’s maritime defence infrastructure.
