Balrampur Chini Mills share price (NSE: BALRAMCHIN) gained nearly 6% during intraday trading on July 21, 2026, touching a fresh 52-week high of ₹642 despite weak overall market sentiment. The stock crossed its previous 52-week high of ₹622 and has significantly outperformed the broader market in recent months.
Over the past month, the stock has risen around 21%, while the BSE Sensex gained only about 0.5%. So far in 2026, Balrampur Chini shares have surged nearly 45%, compared with a decline in the benchmark index.
Investor sentiment has remained positive due to the company's focus on expanding its sustainable business initiatives. Balrampur Chini is one of India's largest integrated sugar companies, operating 10 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh with a crushing capacity of 80,000 tonnes of cane per day. The company also has distillery operations with a capacity of 1,050 KLPD and power cogeneration capacity of 175.7 MW.
A major growth driver is the company's upcoming Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) bioplastics plant, which is expected to be India's first facility of its kind with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tonnes. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned during the December quarter.
Balrampur Chini has also expanded its nationwide 'Bioyug On Wheels' awareness campaign to promote compostable PLA-based products as alternatives to conventional plastics. The initiative has reached several important locations, including the Shree Somnath Temple, where it showcased eco-friendly products such as biodegradable water bottles, cutlery, prasad boxes, compostable garbage bags and 3D-printing applications.
The campaign aims to increase awareness and encourage the use of sustainable bioplastics across India.

The company expects its new PLA plant in Uttar Pradesh to generate nearly ₹2,000 crore in annual revenue after commercialisation. The project involves an investment of more than ₹3,000 crore and uses renewable raw materials such as sugarcane, corn starch and tapioca to manufacture biodegradable plastics.
According to CRISIL Ratings, the project has been progressing largely as planned. A significant portion of the project cost has already been incurred, while funding has been arranged through term loans. The rating agency noted that timely completion, smooth commissioning, utilisation levels and receipt of government incentives will remain key factors to watch.
Balrampur Chini's strong share price performance reflects growing investor confidence in its long-term diversification strategy beyond the sugar business. The company's investment in biodegradable PLA products, supported by sustainability initiatives and government incentives, has strengthened optimism about its future growth. However, investors will continue to monitor the successful execution and commercial performance of the large-scale PLA project.
