Bajel Projects Share Price in Focus; Announces Major EPC Contract Worth Over ₹200 Crore

Bajel Projects Limited has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order worth more than ₹200 crore for two 220kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substations in Mumbai.
The company announced the order on October 9, 2026, in a filing with the stock exchanges. The contract covers the supply and installation of equipment at the Salsette and Powai receiving stations.
Bajel Projects has classified the contract as a major order under its project classification policy, which includes GST in the order value.
Details of the Two Packages
The work is divided into two packages. The first involves supplying and installing a 220kV GIS at the Salsette Receiving Station.
The second covers a 220kV outdoor GIS substation at the Powai Receiving Station. The company has not disclosed the individual value of the two packages or the expected completion date in its announcement.
Why the Project Uses GIS Technology
Gas-insulated switchgear substations occupy less space than conventional air-insulated substations. This makes them suitable for locations such as Mumbai, where land is limited and electricity demand is rising.
According to Bajel Projects, the two installations will add capacity to the city's transmission network and support its reliability. The contract involves high-voltage substation work at two locations within the city.
How Bajel Classifies Orders
Bajel Projects groups its contracts into five categories based on their value, including GST. Orders worth ₹50 crore to ₹100 crore are classified as significant, while those between ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore fall under the large category.
Contracts valued between ₹200 crore and ₹300 crore are classified as major orders. The next category, mega orders, covers ₹300 crore to ₹400 crore, while orders worth ₹400 crore and above fall under the ultra-mega category.
