Avio Smart Market Stack Limited (ASMS), formerly known as Bartronics India Limited, has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Aquasafra Holdings, Inc. and Waterfield Farms, Inc. in the United States to explore the development of technology-driven aquaculture and fisheries ecosystems.
The partnership aims to combine ASMS’s rural digital infrastructure with Aquasafra’s expertise in aquaculture technologies to create scalable and sustainable aquaculture models.
Headquartered in the United States, Aquasafra has developed specialised capabilities in high-performance tilapia genetics. Its hybrid seed stock is designed to deliver faster growth cycles, higher survival rates, and adaptability across diverse farming environments.
The company’s integrated aquaculture model includes broodstock development, feed optimisation, farm design, and production systems. In addition, it offers technical advisory and training support that helps enable commercially viable aquaculture deployments in different regions.
ASMS brings a strong rural distribution infrastructure and digital ecosystem to the partnership. The company’s network spans more than 5,000 villages and connects millions of rural participants.
By integrating Aquasafra’s aquaculture expertise with this network, the companies aim to develop efficient aquaculture ecosystems that improve productivity and sustainability while creating livelihood opportunities in rural and peri-urban areas.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will explore establishing regionally adapted hatcheries for high-performance tilapia seed production. They will also evaluate the deployment of modern aquaculture systems and the integration of aquaponics-based farming models to support climate-resilient agriculture.
Other initiatives under consideration include feed optimisation partnerships, lake and reservoir stocking programs, and structured training programs for farmers, cooperatives, and agri-entrepreneurs.
The partnership will also focus on joint research and innovation aimed at improving disease resistance in fish species, strengthening climate-resilient production models, and enhancing water management systems. These initiatives are expected to support long-term development of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture programs.
