Asian Paints Share Price Surges; Appoints Sudhir Sitapati as An Additional and Independent Director

Asian Paints shareholders have approved the appointment of Sudhir Sitapati as an Independent Director, while also re-appointing Milind Sarwate for a second term.

Asian Paints Limited has received shareholder approval to appoint Sudhir Sitapati as an additional and Independent Director at its 80th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 9 July 2026, as per the exchange filings. 

Alongside the appointment, shareholders also approved the re-appointment of Milind Sarwate as an Independent Director for a second consecutive term.  

Sudhir Sitapati Joins Asian Paints Board 

Sudhir Sitapati has been appointed as an Additional and Independent Director for a 5-year term from 29 May 2026 to 28 May 2031, following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. 

Sitapati has led Godrej Consumer Products as Managing Director and CEO since 2021, driving the company's strategic direction and business transformation.  

Before joining GCPL, he spent more than 20 years at Unilever, where he held leadership roles across India, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, with his final assignment as Executive Director, Foods and Refreshments at Hindustan Unilever 

Industry Experience and Leadership 

An MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a Mathematics graduate from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, Sitapati also serves as Chair of the CII FMCG Committee and previously co-chaired the CII National Committee on Food Processing. 

He is also the author of the bestselling book "The CEO Factory" and is associated with Us Paar, a performing arts residency.  

Milind Sarwate Re-appointed 

Shareholders also approved the re-appointment of Milind Sarwate as an Independent Director for a second 5-year term from 21 October 2026 to 20 October 2031. 

Sarwate brings more than 40 years of experience in finance, governance, audit, risk management and board oversight. He serves on the boards of several companies, including CEAT and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, and has previously held leadership positions at Godrej Soaps and Marico

Asian Paints Share Price Performance  

As of 10 July 2026, at 10:47 AM, Asian Paints Limited share price was trading at ₹2,709.40 per share, reflecting a surge of 1.33% from the previous trading session. 

Conclusion 

The shareholder approvals strengthen the Asian Paints board with continued governance experience through Milind Sarwate's second term and the addition of Sudhir Sitapati's leadership experience in the consumer products industry.
