Ashoka Buildcon has been placed under a 1-month suspension from participating in any ongoing or future National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) bids. The restriction will stay in place until an Expert Committee completes its enquiry into a recent construction-site accident on NH-66.
The suspension was communicated through a letter dated November 26, 2025.
The action follows an incident on the 6-lane elevated corridor between Aroor and Thuravoor Thekku, where 2 precast PSC girders collapsed.
One of the girders fell onto a commercial vehicle moving through the stretch, leading to the death of the driver. The incident occurred on the NH-66 project covering km 366.330 to km 379.082.
NHAI issued a show-cause notice (SCN) to the company on November 26, 2025. The notice stated that the accident endangered public safety. Ashoka Buildcon said it disagrees with this allegation and has submitted its response as part of the regulatory process.
According to the company’s disclosure, the collapse was triggered by the sudden failure of a hydraulic jack due to internal seal damage. It said there were no warning signs before the failure.
The firm also stated that the goods vehicle involved had entered a restricted construction area. It maintained that all safety measures and protocols had been followed as per industry norms and contract requirements.
Ashoka Buildcon said it is still working out the financial implications of the incident. The company noted that its other operations continue without interruptions.

The company now awaits the outcome of the Expert Committee’s review. The bidding pause remains in place while authorities assess the circumstances leading to the girder collapse.
